The relevance of this research is the development of interactive multimedia applications based on a scientific approach that can help students to improve their learning outcomes in civic education subjects in elementary school. This research method uses mix method which includes Small Group Try-out and Field Try-out stages with the aim to know the effectiveness level of an interactive multimedia application based on scientific approach on civic education subject. The results obtained that the application of interactive multimedia-based scientific approach developed has a potential effect on understanding the concept of students on the subject of civic education in elementary school. The results of the effectiveness test using t-statistical analysis showed differences in learning outcomes of civic education before using an interactive multimedia-based scientific approach of 67.93 and after using an interactive multimedia-based scientific approach of 79.26. Conclusion: interactive multimedia applications based on scientific approach can improve the quality learning in elementary school

This article is determined to clarify and correct some accusations about the contemporary Russian battle prose, including that by ethnic Chechen authors, in order to prove their untruthfulness. The results obtained based on general scientific and experimental methods allow to conclude that neither the attitude towards Chechen ethnics in the Russian texts is limited to hatred nor there is a lack of convincing images of Chechens in the contemporary battle prose. The characters of “new military prose”, both Russian and Chechen participants in military actions, tend to blame politicians and representatives of the press, who played an unsightly role in forcing nationalistic sentiments rather than to accuse one another so much. This study can serve as a basis for developing a constructive approach to the formulation of lessons that can be learned from the events, which took place in the Caucasus at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Structure should be remained in elastic rang under cyclic loading due to earthquake and this can be made due to addition of passive energy dissipators. This work represents the effectiveness of viscous damper by modelling seven storey RC frame structures in FEM program SAP2000. In first part of study, behaviour of structure considering devices for four earthquake records is investigated. For this study, damper has been modeled in each storey at outer frame of building. Due to use of damper all damage measures like displacement and drift is reduced significantly. But it is not possible to provide damper in each storey. Thus, in next part location-based optimization is done using genetic algorithm. This optimization is done for 4 and 8 numbers of dampers and for that some best location has indicated depending on minimum value of function. The results for optimal locations is compared with no damper case and full damper case.

The authors have proposed and studied a type MHD DC pump applicable to propulsion. To reach it, an analytic model based on the steady state, incompressible and fully developed laminar flow theory and a general method for obtaining an hydraulic circuit model has been introduced by analogy with a method used for electrical circuit, will be provided to analyze the flow characteristic with different scalar dimensions. An analytic circuit model is deduced of an analytical field model and compared to results obtained through 2D FEM simulations.

The financial performances of petroleum companies that operate in countries with insufficient petroleum resources, such as Turkey, are significantly affected by fluctuations in exchange rates and the prices of naphtha and ethylene. In this study, the extent to which the financial performance of petroleum companies is affected by changes in naphtha and ethylene prices between 2011 and 2017 is investigated. The dataset of the study includes financial statements from five companies operating in the Turkish petroleum sector and traded on the Borsa Istanbul (BIST). TOPSIS is employed to facilitate multi-criteria decision-making in assessing the performance of these companies. The results showed that, in the 2011–2017 period, although the petroleum companies traded on the BIST achieved high gross profitability in the years when the naphtha and ethylene price difference increased, in the years when the naphtha–ethylene price difference decreased, the petroleum companies also continued to increase their gross profits and to protect their financial structures.

This research aims to analyze and describe functional literacy education with participative learning\nmethod in the effort of developing entrepreneurship for rural women. The development of women\nentrepreneurship in rural area is very important because women often have dual role as the family's\neconomic rescue valve. Qualitative research method is used in this study. It was conducted on the\nfunctional literacy learning group in Semarang regency. Data collection uses in this study consists of\ndocumentation, observation, and in-depth interviews. Qualitative descriptive method consist of data\nreduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study indicate that: 1) Functional\nliteracy education with participative learning proved able to improve basic literacy skills and practical\nskills for rural women, 2) The development of female entrepreneurship in rural areas has been proven\nto improve the rural women's business learning group in improving their family's economy. The\ndevelopment of entrepreneurship will be effective if it is carried out continuously and simultaneously\nthrough functional literacy education with participative learning method where women are given equal\nopportunities with men in the utilization of local rural resources. The development of rural women\nentrepreneurship as a tool in improving the quality of life, the role of women, and family welfare are\nan important part to improve quality human resources.

Ranking is a vital element in information retrieval. This paper proposes a new machine learned ranking model for learning-to-rank that aims to reduce the computational cost of training for listwise approach. To this end, we propose divide and train ranking model is based on clustering that group objects into clusters based on their structural similarity. Central ordering is used to maintain the order among these clusters. Proposed model uses labelled and unlabeled data to learn the ranking function so as to do training with large amount of data. The inductive technique use to make pseudo labels for unlabeled data. Newly train data is partitioned into clusters based on their feature values and relevance degree. Each cluster learns the ranking function independently using multi-task learning to avoid the optimization of the multiple loss function for each cluster. The empirical results of the proposed models on benchmark dataset suggests that the performance of the proposed model outperforms than other state-of-the-arts.

This article aims to outline different pedagogical strategies with applications (apps) in the classroom. Every year the use of mobile devices like tablets and smartphones increases. At the same time, applications are being developed to meet this demand. It is therefore essential that educators investigate their use as an motivational technological medium that can possibly be used in the classroom. Apps can be used both as a source of information as well as a tool for creating material. Thus, this article will present the results of a study applying teaching strategies in different contexts. It therefore highlights the importance of mobile learning as a viable alternative in the classroom. In order to do so, there was a multiple case study in the undergraduate pedagogy program and a digital inclusion course for seniors, both offered in the first semester of 2017 at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Educational applications and examples of teaching strategies using apps were created in these classes. Educational applications offer the possibility to bring innovations to teaching practices, as well as new forms of communication, interaction and authorship, thus contributing to the process of teaching and learning.

Most of the existing classifiers designed for multivariate data use a fixed set of features for classification. However, applications like the one to identify customers using their unique buying patterns, demand classification based on class-specific prominent subsets of features called as class signatures. If the classifiers designed with a fixed set of features are used to classify such applications then the complete feature vector may distort the classification process. Rule-based classifiers are suitable for such applications since they produce class-specific discriminating subsets of features. However, none of these classifiers capture the relationship between the features. A graph representation can efficiently model such relationship in the form of links. Existing graph classifiers have been developed for the data where graphs occur naturally such as chemical compounds, protein interaction networks etc. However, graphs do not occur naturally in the multivariate data. Thus, this paper aims at 1) capturing the prominent class signatures by exploring the relationship between features in vector data; and 2) representing such signatures by graphs followed by use of conventional classifiers for decision making. The proposed method G_Sign can also be used to classify data with missing values without employing standard techniques like imputation, case deletion etc. Experimental results on real-world and synthetic datasets show that G_Sign enhances the classification accuracy of all of these datasets.

This study introduces a new vacuum casting setup used to cast customized titanium (Ti) implants. Setup is equipped with the induction furnace, vacuum pump, top vacuum chamber, and thermocouple probe, bottom mold chamber along with Pirani gauge and vacuumed sealed doors and valves mounted. Experiments were conducted with Ti6Al4V alloy to investigate the accuracy of the setup. It is well known that titanium is processed under controlled atmosphere due to its oxidation property. Various methods and tools had been developed to melt and pour the reactive metals like titanium. A significant issue of processing Ti is the high cost of the process and costlier equipment. Currently, the most suitable method of titanium is to use induction skull melting (ISM) in which the alloy is melted in a water-cooled segmented copper crucible. Although this enhances up the metallurgical properties satisfactory, it has reduced efficiency and is therefore costly to use. The proposed setup in this paper for the casting of titanium under vacuum was designed and developed in-house, equipment opted and setup design after thermodynamic calculation for a vacuum chamber and minimizes required vacuum level for melting of Ti. Melting by induction furnace and metal directly poured with the help of bottom pouring crucible mechanism into investment mold prepared by zircon powder and ingredients, the pattern used for mold making is made on rapid prototype machine having material acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). The mold was processed in a muffle furnace and used after washing and cleaning. A promising new technique for direct melting and pouring of titanium alloy for medical implants emerged from this study. This research demonstrated the feasibility of direct melting and casting of the Ti6Al4V Titanium alloy by vacuum technology. Now the setup was established and hosts a number of an experiment to investigate process parameters and produce a low-cost Ti casting.

Tuna is one of the most prominent species in fisheries worldwide. Tuna population is considered to have decreased by more than 80% during the past 20 years due to exceeding exploitation (Block et al., 2005).. Therefore, the measures of protection and preservation of the species have been undertaken. Tuna-farming could help to reduce pressure onto tuna population, but the problem is that the majority of cage-farmed fish is caught in its natural environment (wild population), and is fattened to a certain size. Besides that, challenges in tuna farming are numerous, which is emphasized in this paper. Tuna is a fast swimmer, large energy and oxygen consumer, which consumes a large portion of the food to maintain the metabolism. However, due to its delicious taste, high market price and high demand for this species, the pressure on this species will probably continue to grow in the future, so that its entirely intensive breeding, which implies the full breeding cycle in captivity, remains as one of the possible solutions.

Abstract \nBackground/ Aims\nKefir is a kind of fermented probiotic dairy product. The objective of this study was to investigate effects of kefir consumption on Inflammatory Bowel Disease patients’ micro flora, biochemical parameters, symptoms and also quality of life. \nMeterials and Methods\nThe study was performed as a single center, prospective, open-label randomized controlled trial. 48 patients were separated into two groups (28 for treatment, 20 for control). Treatment group consumed kefir, have 2x1010 cfu/400 ml lactobacillus, control group didn’t. Their gaita Lactobacillus, Lactobacillus kefiri content was quantitated by Real Time-qPCR before and after 28 days.\nResults\nLactobacillus bacterial load of feces of all subjects were between 104–107 cfu/g and first and last measurements were statistically significant (p=0.001 in Ulcerative Colitis; p=0,005 in Crohn’s Disease). The Lactobacillus kefiri bacterial load in the gaita of 17 subjects was measured as between 104–106 CFU/g. For Crohn’s Disease patients, there was a significant decrease in Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate and C-reactive protein while hemoglobin increased. Last 2 weeks, bloating scores were significantly reduced (p = 0.012), feeling good scores increased (p = 0.032). There was a statistically significant difference between the ulcerative colitis and control group in terms of stool frequency in the first two weeks (p = 0.026), but no statistically significant difference was found in terms of other variables.\nConclusion\nAccording to data from this study, kefir consumption may modulates gut microbiota and regular consumption of kefir may improve patients both symptoms and quality of life in short term.
